Paradise Valley Explorer Program

Law Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women age 14 through 20.5 years old, interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system.

The program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.

Overview of Explorer Selection Process:

  • Be between 14 and 20.5 years of age.
  • Completed the 8th grade.
  • Bring proof of a B average or better in school.
  • Be free of felony arrests, current drug or alcohol use, and criminal activity.
  • Attend two meetings a month.
  • Submit required application forms and pass a background check.
  • Complete a 2-week academy and six-month probation period.

Please return within a sealed envelope to the Attention Officer Mike Unger, our Explorer Advisor, at the Paradise Valley Police Department located at 6433 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona 85253.

After the selection process is complete, meetings will be held every other Monday except holidays from 6PM -8PM.
